Foodventures in Manila, day 4
January 26, 2007I was searching for Mitch Albom's Five People You Meet in Heaven so B and I ended up in Powerbooks in Megamall. It was out of stock so B and I went instead to Robinson's Galleria to have lunch in Asian Bites. Asian Bites is a tiny food place located just inside the groceries of Robinson's malls. It serves mostly Japanese food at very affordable prices.
B had a chicken thingie and I had a pork thingie and between the two of us is a platter of maki. It was a very satisfactory meal as we always expect from Asian Bites. From Robinsons, we proceed to Cubao where we walked around and had a full body massage from a blind person. When dinnertime came, we went to this eatery in cubao which I've always been wanting to try but never did. The Chopsticks House. Let it be said that I should trust my instincts more often. B ordered a squid curry for Ph75. What came was a miserable serving of yellow colored squid tentacles. I ordered a Ph45 bowl of wanton soup and what came was three pieces of what looked like wanton swimming in a hot broth. Not good at all. I was forced to buy a value meal of fried chicken just to appease B who was so incensed at the squid curry. (for the record, it looked like the squid tentacles were cut into pieces about 1 inch to 1 11/2 inches long, dipped into a curry paste and then fried. there were about 12-15 pieces in a serving. miserable indeed in the word for it) Needless to say, it was the most unsatisfactory meal B and I had in our foodventures.
