Pointing Fingers
October 25, 2007So one version in the Glorietta bombing is that there is no bombing at all. rather, the explosion was allegedly the result of a chemical reaction from the methane gas coming from the septic tank and diesel fumes from the generator which were located in the basement. Of course, this being the Philippines, the findings (which are not yet final) are being disputed. Chemical engineering professors of UP Diliman are saying that a chemical reaction will not have such massive effect. Officials from Ayala Land say that most of the waste in their toilets are liquid waste so it will not accumulate much methane gas.
If the cause was a chemical reaction, why did some mall goers smell gunpowder right after the explosion? Whatever the cause, it will take away the fact that several families have lost their loved one in the blast.
On the night of the blast, Senator Trillanes was very quick to point out that it is the Arroyo administration behind the blast. In his trademark crazed look, he said that there was already a government plan to cause panic in the people. Tarantado. Alam na pala nya na may planong ganun, hindi pa sya nagsalita bago pa man nangyari.. And this guy is a public official?
Though I will not discount the possibility that the military may be behind this, I still have my doubts. If there was a plan to cause panic, it should have happened to some other place, not in a Makati mall. Gloria has been very proud of the fact that we have been making some economic growths. Bombing Glorietta would reverse or at the very least, the gained economic growth would be lost. Makati=business sector=economy.
Revenge,. NPA style
About two weeks ago, a military colonel was shot dead in a cockpit during the fiesta celebration in Casiguran, Sorsogon. He was shot several times. According to a witness, the assassins (there were more than one) were very young. Although the NPA has not yet claimed responsibility for the killing, it is the general belief that they did it. This extra-judicial killing gave rise to some speculations that another "war/purge" is going to take place again in the province.
However, another story is going on that the reason why the colonel was killed is because he was the shooter behind Gil's death. Gil was a human rights lawyer who was shot a few meters away from a military detachment in Gubat, Sorsogon late last year, together with his driver.
Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity edition 2
October 20, 2007I've been watching this on tv lately. The many of the housemates are drool-able but the personalities seem generally bland. There are a few who seem interesting–gaby dela merced for one- but so far, the show has not shown the spice that celebrity edition 1 has shown. It's too early to tell maybe.
Bomb Blast in Makati Mall
October 19, 2007A blast shook Glorietta 2 earlier today, around 1 pm. So far, 8 people have died, about 70-80 people are injured. Of the injured, around 7 or 10 are in serious condition. The damage seems to be extensive. It is feared that some more people are still buried beneath the debris. Nothing has been said about the cause of the explosion or the reason or the persons behind it. What is known is that the explosion happened at the storage room of Luk Yuen, a Chinese fast food/ restaurant. Quezon City malls have already started tightening their security. As if naman alam nila what to watch out for. Meanwhile, the blast hasn't succeeded in scaring people off the malls.
Shoot, I hope they don't start exploding bombs in Divisoria. And it's almost the Christmas season too.
Lucky
I guess that with my job, I have been seeing too much of the dark depths of the human soul that I sometimes it comes as a surprise for me to see that there are still some good in people.
Holiday
October 12, 2007It's a good thing that today's a holiday–end of Ramadan–I've been nursing this cough and cold lately. I've been wanting to take off a few days to rest but couldn't because of previous commitments. With this holiday, I have three days to rest.
Lunchbox #1
October 9, 2007A few months ago, I took an inventory of my daily expenses and deduced that a big part of it is for lunch. I was spending around P40/day for it, for stuff that didn't really taste that good. So I decided to start bringing lunch to work. That way, I would eat what I want to eat, control my portions, and save on money.
This was my lunch:
Swift's german sausage with boiled egg. Very simple and easily made. Fun , too. I originally intended the sausage to look this way:
Octupi swimming under the sun and a flying crab.
Boracay
October 6, 2007I've been lucky in the sense that a few months after I move to a new office, I get to attend a seminar to someplace I've never been before. I get to combine work and play at the expense of the government.
Return of the Comeback
After being away for months, I decided to come back. I was debating on whether I should move to another site, for reasons only M knows. But after thinking it over, I decided against it. I love this url too much. So here I am, ready to go at it again. There will be changes. For one, I will post more photos (thanks to dexter, my point and shoot digicam). I changed the name as I wanted to combine my interests in this blog: food, work, gadgets and gossip). I also swear to make more effort in posting.
BlueOakPhotos’ Photos
I found his site while browsing. His photos are beautiful, though it sort of makes me feel so alone.
