Boracay

October 6, 2007

I've been lucky in the sense that a few months after I move to a new office, I get to attend a seminar to someplace I've never been before. I get to combine work and play at the expense of the government. :D

In my previous job, I got sent to Subic two months after I first reported for work. We got to stay at the Legenda Suites. The room we were staying in was very luxurious as I got to stay with the bosses. No one wanted to room with them so the newbie (that's me) got to pick the short straw. We never really got to roam that much as the Chief was with us. We got to shop during our last afternoon in Subic and that was that. I never even got to step inside the casino as the Chief didn't want us to be seen inside it.

Last April, within 2-3 months after moving to this new job,  I learned that we were going to have a convention in Boracay. Woohoo! Here are some photos.

We saw this guy in the middle of the sea, selling coconuts to tourists.

Elisa, an old friend from law school, was also there.

E, J, N and I went to the market after an early morning swim for breakfast. Since Bora does not produce its own food, it brings in products from neighboring towns.

We hired a tricycle to bring us around. I saw this at San Lorenzo Villa, a toney resort in Bora

The hotel couldn't accommodate all of us for the convention as many Korean tourists have not yet checked out. They booked some of us instead at the Hayan Suites, on the other side of the island. It was quiet and small, but more expensive.

The room was incredible, with two king sized four-poster beds and a jacuzzi. The carvings on the bed posts and beams were beautifully carved

It was brutally hot during our stay. But the sand and the sea were incredible. The water was always clear and inviting

Much as I enjoyed my stay in Bora, I did not find it hard to leave. Damn place was too expensive, a tourist trap.
