Pinoys on Britain’s Got Talent

April 23, 2008

First there was Madonna Decena. She’s the single mom of two kids who left them in her parents’ care so she could go to the UK and work there as a club singer. She touched the hearts of the audience and the female judge by singing Whitney Houston’s "I Will Always Love You".

Then another one, said to be a half Pinoy, a kid for goodness sake– is on the same show. He sang Frank Sinatra’s "Summer Wind". A 10 year old kid singing that song? Unbelievable.

The kid’s got charm and he’s cute. I don’t know if he will win or that if he does, whether people will buy his albums. If he wins the contest, he only has a few years to enjoy before his voice changes. Madonna– while I do not deny that she has talent–singers like her are a dime a dozen here. Anyway, good luck to both of them. If they don’t get to win the contest, at least I hope that they get some recognition from this.

Simon is actually snapping his fingers to the music. I have to say that the Britons seem to be a great and appreciative audience.
