Manny Loses Balls

Manny Pacquiao, boxing superstar, hero of Philippine sports, has messed up and doesn’t have the guts to own it.
In a nutshell, a few weeks ago, Manny has announced that he is giving the viewing rights to his fight with Hatton to ABS-CBN. This is in contravention with his contract with GMA 7, ABS-CBN’s rival. In an interview, Manny said that he wishes that his decision (regarding the schange) be respected. GMA 7, threatened lawsuit should the transfer take place. With the threat of a lawsuit, Manny backed out of the agreement with ABS-CBN.
These days, Manny is blaming sports reporter Dyan Castillejo for inducing him to transfer viewing rights to ABS-CBN. He also blames ABS-CBN for dangling before him a promise to help in his 2010 campaign when he runs for political office. But Manny may have no one but himself to blame primarily for his boo-boo.
Actually, simple lang naman yan, Manny. Kung ikaw ay matinong tao at alam mong may kontrata ka, hindi ka papasok sa bagong kontrata na alam mong labag sa una mong kontrata. Hihintayin mo na matapos ang una mong kontrata o ipapawalang-bisa mo ang una mong kontrata bago ka pumasok sa panibago. Ngayon, kung nagkamali ka, wag mong sisihin lang ang ibang tao sa pagkakamali mo. Sisihin mo rin ang sarili mo kasi nagpadala ka sa ibang tao at nagpasilaw ka sa mga pangako at sa ambisyon mo. Be responsible for your actions. You don’t need a degree in rocket science to have that.
Now, this incident should serve as a warning to voters about the kind of person Manny is.

I’m a SMARTBro prepaid user and have been so for several months now. Oh sure, I’ve tried to have an affair with Globe prepaid visibility internet thingy but it didn’t work out. The signal was too weak and unrealiable. So SMART Bro it is.
Lately, I’m not too happy with my internet connection. If I try surfing in the afternoons and in the evenings, everything is sooo slow. My network type shows I’m on 3G or HSDPA but things are taking too long. If I want to get a fast connection, I have to surf in the early morning. Like 5-6am. Who wakes up early just to go on the internet? Oh. Yeah. Me.
And it used to be that I can load my prepaid account via a SMART Call and Text card, but apparently I can’t do that anymore as the SMART Bro card is now available, and that is what I should be using anyway. The thing is, the SMART Bro card isn’t available in my neck of the woods. At least not in my favorite friendly prepaid card retail store.
Oh and when I checked my prepaid account, it seems that I have accumulated a ridiculous amount of reward point which I can exchange for 90 minutes of internet time or a discount in a prepaid kit. I opted for free internet and the message I got was that I would receive my free internet time within 48 hours. Well, guess what, it’s been two weeks already and I still have to get my free internet time. Writing off a letter to customer services doesn’t seem to work as I’ve sent my letter twice but I heard (read pala) nothing from them.
I guess that I’m stuck with this for sometime. I just wish Globe would hurry up in installing their tower here in town so I could get a strong signal and then it’s goodbye and good riddance, Bro!

If you, dear reader, have visited this site before, you may have noticed the new template. Flowers, vibrant colors, lush greens amidst spots of browns, and clear blue skies, all these celebrate summer. Summer. These hot lazy days spent sipping cold fruit shakes, swimming in blue seas, wiggling toes in powdery sand while the smell of inihaw wafts temptingly to your nose. Ahh. I’ll be dreaming of these things while I sit in my air-conditioned office, slaving over the piles of work on my table.

The big news of the week is that Nicole a.k.a. The Girl Raped by a Gwapo US serviceman a.k.a Suzette Nicolas, allegedly recanted her statement regarding the alleged rape. The “recantation” was done thru an affidavit which the Philippine Daily Inquirer printed in full on the front page.
Taking a long, hard look at Nicole’s affidavit, what it essentially says is that she is not sure if she was raped or not and that she may have led on Daniel Smith. She stops short of saying that she was not raped.
What is the effect of this affidavit in the rape case which is now pending before the Court of Appeals?

RIP, Francis M.

Growing up, he fed the nationalistic flame within me with his song “Mga Kababayan”. I’m not really into music- much less rap- but his song was for me, a symbol for my generation. He sang of hope and of loving one’s own identity. For someone who at the time, was struggling for her place in the sun, who is trying to determine who she is as a Filipino, the song was an inspiration. A few minutes ago, I learned that he has passed away today due to leukemia. He is a great loss to the industry and he will be sorely missed. I pray that God will give his family the strength to bear this loss.
